Kaminaljuyú-“Hill of the Dead”

Kaminaljuyú is one of the oldest constructions in Guatemala from the Mayan civilization and is located within the area of what is now Guatemala City. Its name means “The hill of the dead” and it was the most important pre-Hispanic capital of the central highlands. In the area there were 13 ball courts, more than 200 mounds, the Miraflores lagoon (now dry) and abundant rivers. During the 1950s, the skeleton of a slave was discovered with an obsidian spear and many interesting pieces. Take advantage of its proximity and visit this incredible archaeological site located in zone 7 of the capital.
